Afternoon Tea Academy at Plate Restaurant in Shoreditch

I was delighted to be invited to afternoon-tea Academy at the award winning restaurant Plate at Montcalm hotel in Shoreditch. The restaurant has teamed up with P.M David Silva & Sons to bring tea lovers the perfect afternoon-tea experience.

Dananjava Silva from P.M David Silva & Sons was present at the event explaining about the different tea flavours and the process of tea making. The discussion was so interesting and thought provoking.

THE AFTERNOON TEA

Firstly, we were served with delicious finger sandwiches with a variety of fillers such as roast chicken, mayonnaise, beef and of course some veggie options can be accommodated upon request. The savoury sandwiches were accompanied by the handpicked at sea level Golden Garden Estate tea. The leaf was tended extract the golden ‘tip’, which makes it refreshing and a little sweet.

Then, the sandwiches were followed by raisin buttermilk scones and Inverness Orange Pekoe Tea. The tea was produced at the Inverness estate from a rare large leafy tea. The tea leaves were carefully handled to produce a note of roses and fresh citrus.

By the time the pastries arrived, I was already so full, but could not miss the chance to taste it all. We were a selection of handmade pastries from Plate’s restaurant. The pastries include  spiced apple crumble cake, a crispy choux with Valrhona milk chocolate, rhubarb and custard mille-feuille and a bite size white chocolate and olive oil macaron. Yet another delicious tea was served, thistle the Planters Mistress tea which offers scented with bergamot orange and lemon peel.

MY EXPERIENCE

I attended the event accompanied by my future mother-in-law, who is interested in plants and therefore was very knowledge about the process of tea making. She really enjoyed hearing about P.M David Silva & Sons and their exquisite tea.

We both appreicated the decor and enjoyed our surroundings at the atmosphere. The food was beyond delicious, especially the special half-croissant bun that the sandwiches were served in. The desserts not only looked good but also tasted good too. I had a lovely experience at Plate restaurant.

*I was invited to sample the afternoon tea. However, I had no obligation to post. All opinions are my own.
