WHERE TO EAT: Café Mozart, Vienna

The original Café Mozart was opened in 1794 at this exact location. It was reopened in 1929 and received its current name Café Mozart as a homage to W.A. Mozart. This famous café is not only located in an historical building, but it also provides traditional Viennese cuisine. Costumers can indulge on the cafe’s original apple strudel in a variety of flavors, along with other traditional Viennese dishes.

The cafe was popular with musicians from the opera house, writers and artists. It was also where Graham Greene wrote the “Third Man”.

On my solo trip to Vienna, I was lucky enough to visit this famous coffeehouse. I ordered a vanilla flavored traditional Viennese pastry and as well as a pistachio hot chocolate which looked and tasted amazing!

The decor is elegant and clean with beautiful chandeliers hanging from the ceiling.

MY EXPERIENCE:

Café Mozart offers an outstanding experience of a traditional Viennese cafe. Visiting the cafe made me feel a sense of appreciation to the musical history of Austria.

Whenever I travel, I always love to try out local cafes, especially the famous ones. This time, I pampered myself with a luxury cafe experience. I loved it so much that I would visit Vienna again only to try that hot chocolate and strudel once again. Even though it was expensive, it was definitely worth the price for me (see also: Michelin Star Experience at L’Autre Pied).

I ate there alone, which can be unpleasant for some solo travelers. However, I managed to enjoy the atmosphere without feeling uncomfortable about having a luxurious lunch by myself.

I would recommend the cafe to anyone visiting Vienna as a “must-visit” experience.
